Tia, Cedars-Sinai partner to offer women’s healthcare in Los Angeles

Hybrid women’s healthcare company Tia on Thursday announced a partnership with Los Angeles health system Cedars-Sinai.

The digital health startup opened its second Los Angeles clinic in Santa Monica in collaboration with the health system. They plan to set up additional clinics in Pasadena, Culver City and Studio City this year.

The partners will share clinical leadership with Tia medical directors and providers working with their equivalents at Cedars-Sinai. Clinical protocols, core coordination between primary and specialty care, and measurement of quality metrics will also be part of the partnership.

In the future, the companies will technically integrate to allow for shared clinical notes, medical records as well as care coordination and data reporting.

Tia combines virtual and in-person care for various women’s health needs, providing primary, mental and gynecological care as well as acupuncture. Tia’s first brick-and-mortar clinic in LA opened in 2021.

“Together we’ll not only expand access to comprehensive women’s healthcare in a market with major primary care and OB-GYN shortages, but we’ll also work together to defragment women’s health by integrating primary and specialty, virtual and in-person, and outpatient and inpatient care. With Cedars-Sinai’s unmatched commitment to clinical quality, compassion and innovation, I’m confident that we can make healthcare work better for women and our communities,” Carolyn Witte, cofounder and CEO of Tia, said in a statement.

THE LARGER TREND

Tia opened its first clinic in New York City in 2019 and has since expanded its presence to California and Arizona.

In May, Tia opened the first of 10 planned brick-and-mortar clinics in the Bay Area and announced a partnership with UCSF Health to build a network of integrated clinics that would allow for coordinated care between Tia and UCSF inpatient and specialty providers.

In 2021, Tia garnered a whopping $100 million in Series B funding, bringing its total raise to $132 million. A year earlier, Tia raised $24.27 million in a Series A funding round and hired three new members for its executive leadership team.

The company signed a deal with CommonSpirit Health to launch hybrid women’s health clinics focusing on gynecological and primary care. The first clinic was launched in 2021 in Phoenix.
